Salary Scale: 24-28 (£23,425 – £26,626 per annum plus unsocial hours payment,
Full-time / 37 hours per week (four on/four off)
Temporary 6 month post with the possibility to be made permanent
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 40 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Night Support Worker at SSJ’s Homeless Accommodation Projects. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated enthusiastic and creative person to join our friendly team, someone with really strong communication skills and understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable clients.
You would be joining our friendly team dedicated to providing clients with a safe environment in which to build their confidence, promote opportunities for positive change and support their recovery journey.
You would support the Night Team Leader in managing the team including providing regular supervision sessions for the staff, identifying training needs and undertaking a mentoring and supporting role when on shift. You will also support the Team Leader to ensure that staff are carrying out their duties correctly and safely and support the Team Leader with service user and staff issues as required.
Please be aware that you will be working in a role that includes weekends and bank holidays, working on 4 on 4 off basis.
Our Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with people who are homeless including rough sleepers, those with complex social needs and people at risk of becoming homeless, who may be experiencing substance misuse difficulties and mental health problems. Good knowledge of substance misuse, homelessness, benefits and mental health is beneficial although training will be given.
You will have excellent communication skills to be able to communicate across the organisation in a professional and approachable manner and have the ability to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative. You will be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate your ability to work in person-centred way whilst supporting clients to meet their individual needs. You will have a good understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding as well as a good knowledge of data protection, confidentiality and IT. Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial.
