Family Support Project
The Family Support Project is a new service in Portsmouth providing a range of support and interventions to families affected by alcohol use.
We know how easy it is for people’s lives to become overwhelmed by drinking too much alcohol. It happens unintentionally but before you know it, alcohol is a huge factor in your life and is starting to be in control of you.
If you are drinking regularly, feel that you are starting to struggle to cope without it and have children under the age of 18, this fantastic new service is here to help.
We provide a 12 week programme through which you and your family will be supported by a specialist worker who will help your whole family identify together the changes you want to make, and then walk beside you as you make these changes together as a family.
We will help you to develop your parenting skills, take part in activities as a family that improve your relationships, help you to better understand the impact that drinking too much alcohol has on your physical and mental health, and understand the negative effect your drinking can have on your children. The support worker will work directly with your children to support them to express to you how they feel when you are drinking too much.
The service is free and you can self-refer by contacting us directly.
