Make A Difference at the ABP Marathon with SSJ

Join a team of passionate advocates, running to support people who are experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness.

We all need extra support sometimes and by running for #TeamSSJ you will be helping us to walk beside people experiencing homelessness. The vital funds you raise will help us to provide the accommodation and support they need.

You will help us to help them navigate a way through the complex system of resources we should all have equal access to. Everyone deserves support when they are vulnerable, but not everyone has access to the support they require.

Ready to challenge yourself and make a difference? Whether you choose the 10K, half marathon, or full marathon, every step counts. Join #TeamSSJ at the ABP Southampton Marathon.

Here's why running with #teamSSJ is the perfect choice:

Support Us: By raising vital funds for the Society of St. James you will be joining us in ending homelessness in your community, person by person.

Challenge Yourself: Push your limits and achieve a personal goal by conquering the 10K, 13.1 miles (half-marathon) or 26.2 miles runs (full-marathon).

Join a Supportive Community: Train alongside like-minded individuals and celebrate your achievements as a team.

Don't miss this chance to run for a rewarding cause and create lasting memories!

Offer an Incentive

It could be for every contribution, your donators earn something, or if you reach a certain target you'll do something. Here are a few ideas below:

  • They Pick Your Playlist: For every contribution, your donator can add a song to your running playlist. You may even find your perfect motivation mix with the help of others! Get help with this in our fundraising pack.
  • Wear Crazy Hair: Whether it's a wig or you take the plunge on your real hair, do something exciting. You could go more extreme the higher your fundraising total becomes.
  • Wear a Fun Outfit: Dress up to add an extra challenge to your run, plus you'll be easy to spot and will make for extra memorable photos. The outfit could match your fundraising total, starting at your socks and becoming a full-on funky costume when you reach your target.

Match Giving with Your Employer

Double your contributions by matching everything your employer contributes. Plus, the more you put in, the more they do too!

Three Tips To Boost Your Fundraising

Tip 1

Talk to Everyone

Let everyone know that you're running and for what cause. Having people know you're training, will inspire you to keep going. Plus, the more people who know, the more donators you will have on your doorstep.

Tip 2

Let Your Sponsors Know What Their Money Can Buy

Knowing where their money will go will encourage people to donate. Examples include: travel to work in the first month of employment, suit or clothes for a job interview, ID to apply for jobs or set up a bank account, level 2 qualifications delivered in their homes.

Tip 3

Promote Your Run

Share your run and fundraising events as much as you can, via social media, word of mouth, and more! We've created a fundraising pack full of posters you can use to spread the word. But if you need more, get in contact at info@ssj.org.uk.
