Our latest venture in Portsmouth to provide employment and training opportunities to local people with histories of homelessness and substance misuse.
We currently provide the majority of substance misuse services in Portsmouth, both through treatment services and the provision of specialist housing, and work with about 1000 people at any one time in Portsmouth.
Our aim is to create better chances for successful recovery for our services users, which has wider social benefits in terms of reduced burden on statutory and other services, better health outcomes and reduced crime. Studies have shown that meaningful employment has a significant impact on successful recovery and the opportunities on offer at the Cafe in the Park will provide a huge benefit to the local people engaged with our services.
We are working with the Beanbag Café Community Interest Company, a social enterprise providing advice and training to organisations seeking to establish community cafes.
The café has been refurbished by Portsmouth City Council and is designed along the shabby chic style, with comfortable chairs and sofas inside and an attractive outdoor courtyard overlooking the beautiful Victoria Park, right in the heart of Portsmouth city centre. Most importantly we offer great coffee, delicious food and a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere!
The Cafe in the Park is in the beautiful setting of Victoria Park, Anglesea Road, Portsmouth, PO1 3HJ.
