Meet Joe: His first Christmas off the street
Joe is spending his first Christmas off the street.
There's food in the kitchen, washing up in the sink and somewhere safe to sleep. For Joe, these everyday things mean something enormous: he's not homeless tonight.
But finding a home doesn't erase the challenges of the past. With consistent support from SSJ, Joe can begin rebuilding his confidence, working through difficult experiences and looking towards a brighter future.
The bed is the beginning
Coming off the street is a life-changing first step, but the journey doesn't end there. Many people face challenges including trauma, poor mental health, substance use and isolation. With the right support, people can rebuild trust, develop new skills and discover opportunities to move forward.

What your money can buy
£31.93 can pay for a Christmas dinner or Christmas gift for 2 people in our accommodation.
£45.20 helps build vital trust by funding two Academy activities with a support worker over a month.
£62.80 can provide someone with a bedding and kitchen welcome pack when moving into one of our accommodations.
£114.50 can open new opportunities like having a bank account, for someone who has been homeless, by replacing a lost birth certificate and passport.
£180 provides essential furnishings for someone with no belongings as they transition into their own home.
£250 can provide emergency welfare support to stop a temporary financial setback from turning into a housing crisis.
£293.48 can fund a month of minibus travel, connecting people like Joe to vital activities that foster confidence and community.

The first £10,000 will be used to ensure that people that use our services are given a Christmas dinner or a gift, after that, the Christmas Appeal donations are not ring fenced and help fund SSJ's wider work supporting people to move forward from homelessness.
