SSJ want to raise awareness for Domestic Abuse more than just once a year!

At SSJ, we feel it’s important to raise awareness more than just during October’s Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.

Are you or someone you are supporting experiencing emotional, physical, or verbal abuse? You are not alone. SSJ is here to help.

Domestic violence affects millions of people each year, 2.1 million people aged 16 years and over (1.4 million women and 751,000 men) experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2023.

SSJ is committed to providing a safe haven and resources for those experiencing domestic abuse.

Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment, we offer training opportunities throughout the year to further equip staff with the knowledge and skills to support those experiencing domestic violence. Our dedicated Domestic Abuse Leads are available to offer confidential information and guidance.

SSJ also works closely with trusted partners like Aurora New Dawn and Stop! Domestic Abuse. These organisations offer additional specialist support services.

Aurora New Dawn offer services to victims of stalking, sexual assault, domestic violence and abuse. They also support female offenders, armed forces personnel, adults and children who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, domestic violence, domestic abuse and sexual abuse (in particular but not exclusively). They provide information, advice and other support services.

The majority of their services are based outside of Portsmouth, Southampton and Hampshire but SSJ have been working in partnership with Aurora New Dawn, and they have provided some amazing specific training to the staff at SSJ.

Zoe Jackson, Deputy Chief Executive, Aurora New Dawn – “It has been great to see members of the team on some of our training recently – I always enjoy meeting and working with you all.”
