Working together to end homelessness: A visit from Stephen Morgan MP
Last week, we were delighted to host Stephen Morgan MP at our Community Day Rehab service in Portsmouth. Stephen’s visit was a valuable opportunity to showcase the work we’re doing at the Society of St James to support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and those in recovery. It also allowed for a vital discussion about the barriers we face in providing the integrated support that we know people experiencing homelessness need and also a possible joint call to action amongst partners in ending homelessness locally.
We spoke about the difficulties in accessing consistent support across services, and how greater collaboration between organisations could help overcome these barriers.
Together, we explored the possibility of a joint call to action among local partners, with the aim of improving services and working together to end homelessness locally.
Quote from Stephen Morgan MP
‘It was good to visit the Society of St James team at their Community Care Rehab to hear about the ongoing work they are doing within the city to support people who are experiencing homelessness and those in recovery.
They are a fantastic support for people in the city and I will continue to work with the charity to prevent, relieve and ultimately end homeless in our local community.’
We’re incredibly grateful for Stephen’s continued support and for taking the time to listen, engage, and stand alongside our mission.
His visit was a powerful reminder that ending homelessness is not just possible – it’s achievable with the right partnerships, resources, and political will.
At the Society of St James, we remain committed to working with local leaders and services to end homelessness locally person by person.
