Homelessness Service, Rushmoor

SSJ’s homeless service in Rushmoor, developed in partnership with the
local council consists of a newly opened 8-bed, high support house and a
5-bed low support house. The service has always supported men with complex
issues, including histories of street homelessness, but can now also
support women.

The support is tailored to meet the individual needs of each resident, with
the aim of reducing any substance use and/or associated offending
behaviour, to help them achieve a more stable and fulfilling life. The length
of stay in the service is variable depending on each person’s specific
needs, but our aim is to help people achieve the changes they seek in their
lives within one year and help them to move into their own long-term home.

Our 8 bed project is supported seven days a week and staff are available
to offer advice and create support plans and move on goals for each
resident. We also have an out of hours support service to ensure the safety
of each resident and to be on hand should any serious incidents or
emergencies occur.

Opportunities to take part in positive activities and educational sessions
such as a weekly motivational therapy group and 1-1 sessions with a
visiting Psychologist are available. There are also opportunities for people
to access volunteering and work placements that help them develop their
life skills in readiness for their eventual move back into independent living.
Referrals to the service are through Rushmoor Borough Council, Inclusion
and other housing providers.
